THE Tassel Room, a weekly decadent, top-shelf burlesque show at the intimate supper club DUANE PARK, with host MURRAY HILL and a bevy of the most beautiful burlesque dancers in town.
The host, singer and burlesque showgirls perform live to the swinging jazz quintet THE STIFF GIMLETS featuring Jesse Elder on piano, Ken Zwerin on bass, Matt Parker on saxophone, Scott Tixier on violin, and Arthur Vint on drums. Each Saturday night will feature a rotating cast of some of the best and sexiest burlesque performers: Angie Pontani (Miss Exotic World), Amber Ray (burlesque crooner), Media Noche (Spanish bombshell), Joe Boobs, (head mistress of NY school of Burlesque), Peekaboo Pointe (fastest tassel twirler this side of the world) and many more. The showgirls are so close you can feel the feather fans on your cheek.
Featured singers include
Sophia Urista Born in Detroit, MI. The soundtrack her mother filled her childhood with reveals her Mexican and black heritage as well as her Detroit roots, which have shaped her musical vocabulary--from the soulful sounds of The Supremes to the nostalgia of traditional Mexican music, and the power of classic rock with artists such as Santana, Creedance Clearwater Revival and Van Morrison. After graduating from the University of Michigan with this music brewing within and the desire to become an actress, she set foot in New York City to make her mark as a performer. The raw passion of her onstage performance has and continues to fuel the meteoric rise of her early career as a singer. She has been compared to the likes of Betty Davis for her raw power and vocal character, and Eartha Kitt for her sassy theatrics.

After commanding audiences across NYC's live music scene, she mesmerized the legendary duo, Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson, at an open-mike event at their Sugar Bar. They promptly offered her a month-long feature at their "Nuttin' but the Blues" weekly event and began mentoring her into the business, inviting the inimitable Quincy Jones to witness her onstage power. Shortly thereafter, Sophia began working with the legendary producer who has taken her under his wing. Quincy's team will help guide Sophia's career in the months to come.
